IFA ensures safe Muharram offerings across ICT


ISLAMABAD, Jul 17 (APP):As the city observed Muharram ul Haram, the Islamabad Food Authority (IFA) was busy ensuring the safety and quality of food and drinks provided at various sabeels and langars.
Talking to APP, Deputy Director Operations (DDO) of IFA, Dr Tahira Saddique said that during Muharram, several sabeels and langars were set up across the city and the IFA undertook a detailed inspection of these food and drink points.
She said that the food testing teams (FSTs) of IFA visited various sabeel and langar points. Their primary focus was on ensuring that the drinks and milk provided at the sabeels were safe for consumption. The IFA also reviewed the meat used in the langars to ensure it met safety standards.
The authority also checked the quality of spices used in the preparation of langar meals, she added.
Dr Tahira said the teams have visited G-6, Aabpara, G-9, G-10 and I-8 Markaz, and inspected quality of food being distributed among the mourners.
The Deputy Director emphasized that every drink and food item reaching the citizens must be of high quality. This was a key priority for the IFA during Muharram.
Dr. Tahira confirmed that the IFA inspected every langar and sabeel on the 9th and 10th of Muharram. This thorough inspection aimed to ensure the safety and quality of all food and drink offerings during this significant period.
