ISLAMABAD, Aug 2 (APP):The convener of the National Parliamentary Taskforce (NPT) on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Bilal Azhar Kayani, on Friday said that the recently passed Election Act Amendment Bill was fully aligned and harmonized with the constitution.
Talking to a private news channel, he said that the legislation was prerogative and a routine practice of the parliament that has been used in the recent Election Act Amendment Bill.
The Election Act was already in place, and the current amendments are heavily supported and align with the constitution.
The purpose of these amendments is to bring clarity to the existing election law, he added.
He said that the government believes that these amendments will strengthen the election process.
