Govt increases relief for salaried class in Budget 2024-25 despite economic challenges: spokesperson

ISLAMABAD, Jun 12 (APP):Government’s Spokesperson for Legal Affairs Barrister Aqeel Malik, said on Wednesday that the coalition government has announced a significant increase of up to 25 percent in the budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 to alleviate the financial burden on the salaried class.
Talking to PTV, Malik highlighted the measures taken to provide relief to the common man amidst tough economic conditions.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to crafting a pro-public budget that addresses the hardships faced by the general populace.
He underscored the challenges faced in presenting such a budget, particularly in light of ongoing negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
“The government is near to sign a deal with the IMF, and presenting a budget that prioritizes relief for the low-income class has been quite challenging,” Malik stated.
Despite these challenges, the government spokesperson expressed satisfaction with the budget presented in the Parliament House, noting its focus on providing relief to the salaried class.
However, Malik criticized the behavior of the opposition during the budget session in the lower house of Parliament, condemning their resort to chanting slogans instead of engaging in constructive dialogue.
