ISLAMABAD, Sep 22 (APP): Rain-wind/thundershower is expected in Punjab, Pothohar region, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
Isolated heavy falls or hailstorms are also likely in Northeast Punjab and Potohar region during the forecast period.
As per the synoptic situation, a westerly wave was affecting the upper and central parts of the country.
Monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea were also penetrating in upper and central parts of the country.
Moderate to heavy falls may cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Lahore, Gujranwala and Rawalpindi on September 22 and 23.
Moderate to heavy rains may trigger landslides in the vulnerable areas of Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra and Abbottabad from September 22-24
During the last 24 hours, rain- wind/thundershower occurred in Islamabad, Punjab and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Hot and dry weather prevailed in other parts of the country.
The rainfall recorded during the period was Punjab: Islamabad (Zero Point, Saidpur 49 mm, Golra 07, Bokra 05), Rawalpindi (Shamsabad 44, Chaklala 21, Kacheri 12), Chakwal 22, Lahore (Airport 19, Tajpura 07, Upper Mall 06, Mughalpura 05, Gulberg 02), Sialkot (Airport 15, City 04), Narowal 12, Gujrat 10, Hafizabad 08, Kasur, Jhelum 07, Mangla 03, Faisalabad 01, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Kalam 04 and Malam Jabba 01mm.
The highest maximum temperatures recorded were Turbat 44 C, Dera Ismail Khan and Lasbela 41 C.
